[OmniOS-discuss] flow control with Intel x520da

Interesting issue with flow control that I can't prove but suspect is ixgbe
driver related. I wonder if anybody has seen this. The switch is Dell
Force10 S4810. I have enabled bidirectional flow control on the port.
(standard broadcomm chipset).

If I turn on rx flow control in the driver by editing
/kernel/drv/ixgbe.conf, everything works just fine.

If I turn on bidir flow control in the driver, the port doesn't work at
all. Instead, what I see on the switch is approximately 1000 multicast
packets inbound per second (or something that registers as multicast that
is probably some attempt at flow control). Running snoop on the ixgbe
interface shows nothing at all in this mode. Not even standard multicast
traffic from the switch.
